ILLINOIS STATE 3, NORTH DAKOTA STATE 0
PUERTO VALLARTA, Mexico - Hannah Meshnick’s dominance in the circle lead Illinois State in their 3-0 victory over North Dakota State.
Both bats started quiet in the first few innings, with shutdown pitching from both Meshnick and North Dakota State’s Piper Reed.
The Redbirds struck first with a misplayed Abby Knight flyball in left, allowing Ella Boyer to score.
Illinois State added two in the top half of the 5th from a Julia Larson single to left field, scoring Bella Wilkerson and Addison Masching.
The story of the game, however, was Hannah Meshnick’s strong seven innings of work to propel the Redbirds to a win in their last game in PV. Meshnick ended her day with a complete game shutout, striking out two, allowing eight hits.
Illinois State leaves Mexico with a 1-3 record on the trip. They will take on Indiana State on Friday, in Chattanooga. North Dakota State ends their trip 1-4. They will play next on Friday, with a matchup against Prairie View A&M, in Commerce, Texas.
